How to get to Koh Tao

Koh Tao or "Turtle Island" is situated just North of Koh Phangan in the Gulf of Thailand. You can fly direct from Heathrow to Bangkok the cost is between £550-£650 depending on which time of year you go and which airline you travel with. You can get in direct cheaper flights. Thai Air or British Airways are probably the best carriers for economy class tickets.

From Bangkok you can fly to Koh Samui, which is about £145 return by Bangkok Air . The cheapest way of all is to take the V.I.P Bus & Boat joint ticket which leaves at 9pm at night or 6am in the morning from the Kao Sarn road area (about £15). Or you can take the night train from Bangkok to Chumporn (about £28) and then the boat from Chumporn to Koh Tao. For more information CLICK HERE

From either Koh Samui or Chumporn you get either the Songserm Ferry which is about 450baht (£8) or choose between the two fastest options; Lompraya Catamaran or Seatran high speed ferry, they cost the same, about 550 Baht (£10) but leave at slightly different times. The slow ferry takes about three hours and the catamaran/speed ferry about two hours, I recommend one of the latter.
